I am currently the European Editor of leading global technology news site The Next Web and formerly a senior editor at TechCrunch (acquired by AOL in 2010) and managing editor of Virtualization.com.

A seasoned technology journalist and commentator, I'm also an entrepreneur, event organizer, speaker, moderator, occasional startup advisor and angel investor but most importantly a champion of startups and the European startup ecosystem in particular.

After working as Internet marketing manager for technology company Hostbasket (acquired by Telenet) and later as online media manager for leading Belgian ICT publisher Datanews / VNUnet (acquired by Roularta), I co-founded social media agency Talking Heads in 2009 (the company became part of Web design and development agency Netlash in 2010).

I occassionally serve as a startup advisory board member - more specifically, I'm currently a minor shareholder in startups such as Checkthis, Maily, Showpad, Argus Labs (Jini), Wondergraphs and Oxynade.

In addition, I've mentored a wide range of European startups through the internationally acclaimed Founder Institute and Seedcamp - both early-stage business accelerators.

Based in Brussels, Belgium, I'm a patron of the BetaGroup Coworking Space and previously organized events, such as the Plugg conference and the monthly OpenCoffee Club Brussels meetups.

I'm not particularly fond of mussels, waffles or sprouts for that matter. I'm a big fan of Belgian beer(s), though.
